A piece of Tango history in Cambridge
by Tangueando:
Following the tradition of visiting teachers of the highest caliber, and part of the Summer of Tango in Cambridge, Tangueando arranged a visit in Cambridge of this very highly respected couple of milongueros and teachers from Argentina. We learnt a lot and were inspired by them!
Have a look at their most impressive professional background and some of the videos we selected for you.
Tanguito & Genoveva represent the purest style of Argentine Tango. In their dances they go through the eras, through their deep knowledge of the different forms and styles of tango, milonga and vals, from their origins to our times.
Highly respected milongueros, they have worked with the some of the best known orchestras, among which that of master Mariano Mores, Sexteto Mayor, Berlinghieri-Baffa, Raúl Garello, José Colangelo, Sexteto sur and others.
They appeared on numerous stages in theatres and shows in Argentina and all over the world with some of the worlds best known tango dancers such as Vanina Bilous & Roberto Herrera, Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Los Dinzel, Nélida & Nelson, Gloria & Eduardo, and others.
Andrés acknowledges as his first tango teacher the famous milonguero Pepito Avellaneda. He later worked with Osvaldo Zotto's as his assistant teacher from 1992 to 2001. During this period they worked together to record the now famous course "Así se baila el tango", for the channel "Solo Tango". From 1999 to 2002, Andrés and Genoveva were principal teachers in the "Estudio La Esquina" of Vanina Bilous. From 1997 to 2002 they were dancers and assistant directors of the show "Tango, una historia…" presented together with Roberto Herrera. In 2003 they worked with Julio Iglesias as main dancers in his european tour. They were the creators and artistic directors of "Ventarrones de Tango" which was presented in the Mentekulta Tango Festival in Portugal. Much loved in Buenos Aires, they were honoured on the "Dia del Milonguero" for the authenticity of their dance, which captures the grounded traditions of Tango whilst maintaining a personal originality. They run the very popular practica "De Querusa" in Buenos Aires.
Andrés and Genoveva have been dancing together for over 15 years, are well known throughout the UK and have worked in Leeds, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, London and world-wide. They also performed at London's Royal Festival Hall, with maestro Mariano Mores. Andrés and Genoveva are currently in their European tour, participating in festivals and special events alongside Miguel Angel Zotto & Roberto Herrera.
Their deep knowledge of the authentic Tango movements, their collective experience at the highest level of performance and teaching throughout the world and their self-critical and exhaustive technical training make them amongst the most accomplished and grounded teachers.
With an extensive artistic trajectory, they are dedicated to teaching and divulging the music and dance of the Río de la Plata, and are sharing the path of life from the hand of Tango.

The 2 workshops and the seminar were designed as a course although they could be taken separately. We planned these 2 days so that they could be enjoyed all together as a tango weekend, balancing learning, dancing & practising. We recommended it for an immersive experience that has reportedly made a positive impact on many of the participants dancing.
Details
The workshops and the Seminar were for a strictly limited number of couples.
